As part of The Rasmussen Group, Jensen Crane Services provides heavy lift services for all your specialized lift and transportation needs. Jensen Crane Services, conveniently located in the Midwest at the crossroads of I-80 and I-35, is your premier crane services provider for heavy lift and specialized transportation services. Jensen Crane Services provides cranes for hire in the Fully Operated and Maintained (FOM) crane market. Position Overview

The Crane Rigger uses rigging to attach heavy loads to cranes without damaging the load while operating under quality, safety, environmental and health regulations, and policies. This position will also be responsible for safely driving and operating, loading and unloading cargo from trailers, and securing loads when necessary. This position will haul a variety of equipment and cargo in varying lengths, height, and weight.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Fasten loads according to federal and company regulations to provide support and preparation to be moved by using power tools and hand tools.
  • Set up and operate forklifts, aerial lifts and light plants.
  • Use and attach required cables, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, wires, straps, chains, etc., to load to be lifted and placed
  • Signal or verbally direct workers on site with hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  • Dismantle, clean and store equipment at the end of a shift
  • Drive on public roadways and construction sites in accordance with safe and prudent practice, DOT regulations, public safety laws, OSHA regulations, and the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Operate and deliver materials on assigned vehicles safely, legally, efficiently, and professionally without additional training.
  • Verify specification and order compliance for the materials delivered.
  • Operate assigned vehicles in accordance with the manufacturers' recommendations, Company policies and procedures, and safe practices.
  • Maintain DOT logbook and comply with all DOT requirements as necessary.
  • Use sound judgment in all driving and site conditions. Drive safely and carefully. Comply with all traffic laws. Adjust driving to the conditions. Take all necessary precautions to protect assigned vehicles and other’s property.
  • Keep assigned trucks and equipment in a safe and proper mechanical condition, correctly maintained and clean inside and outside. Ensure the proper servicing and maintenance of assigned vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must possess a Class A CDL with airbrakes and have the ability to obtain another endorsement.
  • Two years previous experience driving over the road with flatbed/open bed preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction and can use such tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic mathematical functions, including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess knowledge of Company policies and procedures, including safety.
  • Must consistently produce and efficient, accurate work product.
  • Ability to see objects at a distance, at close range, in low light conditions, in the presence of a glare or bright lighting.

Work Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years in age or older.
  • Must pass post-offer employment drug testing, medical exams, and physical agilities testing.
  • Must pass D.O.T. required physical.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Must have an active driver’s license.

  • The employee must have the strength, mobility, agility, and balance to ascend access ladders and steps and to manoeuvre on equipment and vehicles without assistance.
  • Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs of force frequently and 50-100 lbs of force occasionally.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must enter and exit trucks multiple times throughout the day in a safe manner.
  • Must possess unrestricted mobility to twist, turn, bend, and lean in all directions, lookup, down and side to side without hesitation or discomfort.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
