Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee a fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment for Rasmussen Group and its individual operating companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, and procurement of heavy vehicles and equipment. The role will involve recommending appropriate vehicles based on project requirements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, fleet maintenance costs, and optimizing fleet efficiency.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Develop and implement fleet management strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Recommend suitable trucks, heavy vehicles and equipment based on project specifications and budget constraints.
  • Review history of vehicle purchase and repairs to give proper recommendations for future purchases of equipment and vehicles.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and overall fleet performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards for all heavy equipment operations.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source and negotiate contracts for new equipment acquisitions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the condition of the fleet and identify maintenance or replacement needs.
  • Train and supervise fleet maintenance staff to uphold high standards of quality and safety.

Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Three years or more of progressively responsible experience in fleet management
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
  • CDL preferred
  • Maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy-duty diesel and truck equipment preferred

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize fleet performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage personnel.
  • Familiarity with fleet management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Certifications in fleet management or related areas are a plus.

Work Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass post-offer employment drug testing, medical exams, MVR, and physical abilities testing.
  • Must pass D.O.T. required physical.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and/or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Must have a personal telephone or cell phone.

  • Must be capable of driving vehicles in off-road conditions.
